Washington, D.C. -- Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) today released the following statement on the House of Representatives’ passage of legislation implementing the recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission:
“Today, the House of Representatives has taken steps necessary to make America safer and more secure. The bill that the House passed increases risk-based homeland security funding, helps first responders attain interoperable equipment, improves air and shipping cargo inspection, strengthens our commitment to non-proliferation, engages other countries in reducing extremism, and will greatly improve the intelligence we need to prevent wars, to intercept terrorists, and to protect Americans around the world. Ignoring the sensible recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission was one of the biggest failures of the previous Congress, and I am pleased that the new Congress has moved quickly to correct that inaction.”
