Betty was appointed by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to two important committees:
Committee on the Judiciary - The Judiciary Committee has jurisdiction over matters of criminal law, civil rights, intellectual property, the Internet, and judicial ethics. With legislative oversight responsibility for the Federal courts, law enforcement agencies, Department of Justice, and administrative bodies, the judiciary committee reviews bills and resolutions pertaining to Federal criminal law and the Constitution. Committee on Rules - By determining the rules that govern the debate of and votes on bills in the House, the rules committee plays a crucial role in shaping the legislative actions undertaken. Link
