Summary

GAO provided a supplement reviewing the Veterans Administration's (VA) comments on a report on the VA dental program. In analyzing the VA comments, GAO compared the extent of dental care currently provided to inpatients by VA with dental care provided to inpatients in military facilities and other non-VA hospitals.

GAO believes its analysis of the VA comments and the supplementary data on the extent of dental care provided in non-VA hospitals provides further evidence of the validity and practicality of the prior recommendations and the need for VA implementation.
