Congressman Clyburn Secures $17 Million for South Carolina Transportation Projects 

 

 
(Washington, DC) - Sixth District Congressman James E. Clyburn has secured $17 million for transportation projects in South Carolina as part of the Transportation, Treasury and Independent Agency Appropriations Bill that was reported out of subcommittee today.  Congressman Clyburn, who sits on the Appropriations Committee's Transportation and Treasury Subcommittee, specifically requested the following earmarks:

Downtown Railroad Relocation

Pedestrian Walkway

(crosses Highway 601 at South Carolina State University and Claflin College)

$250,000

 

 

            "I received requests from each of the government entities that will receive these funds because they identified a tremendous need," Congressman Clyburn said.  "I supported them because these federal investments will translate into improved safety and a better quality of life for South Carolinians."

 

            House passage of the Transportation, Treasury and Independent Agencies Appropriations Bill is expected before the August recess.
