CIRCULAR LETTER NO. 491

June 11, 2001

TO: Printing and Publishing Officials of the Federal Government

SUBJECT: Rider Orders for GAO Principles of Federal Appropriations Law, Vol. IV

The Government Printing Office (GPO) is now accepting rider orders for Volume IV of the General Accounting Office's (GAO) Principles of Federal Appropriations Law, second edition. Due to the interest generated by this publication, the date that rider orders must be received has been extended. The GAO's description of the publication follows:

Volume IV of Principles of Federal Appropriations Law, second edition, also known as "The Red Book," will consist of three chapters covering goods and services, real property, boards and commissions, nonappropriated fund instrumentalities, corporations, and trust funds.

In compiling your agency's total order, GAO suggests that you take into consideration the needs of legal offices, finance offices, contracting offices, libraries, Inspector General offices, field and regional offices, and any other elements of your agency that might use this publication.

Although the rider rate for this publication has yet to be determined, your requisition prior to production allows the printing of these copies during the regular press run. This results in substantial savings, which we are then able to pass along to you. (Please note that the rider rate applies to single destination, local delivery orders only. Mailing costs, if incurred, will comprise an additional charge.)

To take advantage of the rider rate, forward your requisitions (Standard Form 1) to GPO by June 19, 2001. Be sure to specify GPO Jacket Number 478-890 and GAO Requisition Number 1-00050 on your requisition. Field or regional activities should coordinate their requirements with their Washington, DC, area headquarters' printing officers before submitting any paperwork.

If you have any questions, or require additional information, please contact your GPO Account Representative or call the Departmental Account Representative Division on 202-512-0238.

Sincerely,

JIM BRADLEY
Director, Customer Services
