Army Athletes Earn Scholar-Athlete Honors Army soccer goalie A.J. Glubzinski recently was named the 2008 Patriot League Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Glubzinski is the third straight Black Knight, and fifth overall, honored by the Patriot League with the award, which recognizes the conference's top player that combines achievement in the classroom and on the field. The goalkeeper maintains a 4.0 grade point average in American Politics in the West Point Honors program. In addition, two members of the Women’s Volleyball team were honored for their prowess on the court and in the classroom by earning CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors. Seniors Briana Stremick and Rachael Breinling earned first team and third team honors, respectively. Stremick holds a 3.94 GPA in Mechanical Engineering. She too earned the Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year award. Breinling, who majors in Geography, carries a 3.52 GPA. Glubzinski and Stremick are now eligible to compete for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards to be presented over the summer. (Photo courtesy ODIA)
