Rep. Dave Weldon offers internship opportunities for college students in both his Florida and Washington, D.C. offices. Past interns have found this opportunity to be an exciting and rewarding way to learn more about the federal government.
Interns are a valuable asset to the office and are responsible for a variety of duties. Individuals must be mature, professional, strong writers and possess good communication skills. Interns will participate in assisting the office staff with routine tasks such as opening and distributing constituent mail, assisting in the front office, giving tours of the Capitol, and running errands. They will also have the opportunity to assist legislative staff with research, attend hearings, and track legislative developments. By the end of the internship, students have received a firsthand look at the legislative process and the inner-workings of a Congressional office.
Eligibility
The ideal applicant will have strong academic credentials and an interest in public service. Due to the high number of applicants, internships are limited. Students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.
If you have any questions about the internship program, please contact Cathy Graham in the Washington, D.C. office at (202) 225-3671.
