Stock: Principally chemical pulp; the remainder free from 
groundwood pulp. 

Note: Not less than 20% postconsumer fiber. Any percent 
over 20% percentage points, is encouraged, provided that 
the requirements of this Standard are met. 

 

 

Basis weight: 24 by 36 inches,

Bursting strength: Average not less than

Writing quality: Characters written with ballpoint and 
felt tip pens shall be clear-cut . 

 

Curl: Paperboard shall lie flat with either no tendency to 
curl or with a curl, which can be overcome, under 
reasonable working conditions. 

 

 
General appearance: The color, finish and cleanliness 
shall conform to the standard sample(s) established by the 
Government. 

Color: The paperboard in the order (or publication) shall 
be uniform and the color variation shall not exceed 
DE(CIELAB) = 1.0. Board shall match the commercial 
standard for red or as specified. Colors shall not fade.

 

 

Testing: Shall be conducted in accordance with methods in part 2, Government Paper Specification Standards. The 
acceptance criteria Part 4 shall apply.
