Fiscally responsible reforms for students, workers and retirees.
Former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan told Committee Republicans and Democrats several years ago that strengthening worker training and education programs is critical to putting Americans back to work and creating jobs. In testimony before the Committee, Greenspan emphasized that providing "rigorous education and ongoing training to all members of our society" is essential for future job growth and worker security in the United States.
In 1998, Committee Republicans crafted the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) system to give job seekers access to labor job training services, counseling, and market information to help them get back on their feet. In 2005, the House passed legislation to strengthen and improve America’s job training system even further so states and communities can give workers the training they need to find good jobs. As always, House Republicans will continue to push for legislation to strengthen our job training system in the 110th Congress.
