Arkansas Congressional Delegation Announces Emergency Highway Funding for State FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 27, 2008 Washington – The Arkansas Congressional Delegation today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the Arkansas Highways and Transportation Department a grant in the amount of $9,001,554 to repair damages that occurred to federal-aid highways as a result of Arkansas’s severe weather in March and April. Members of the Arkansas Delegation include: U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, U.S. Representatives Marion Berry (AR-01), Vic Snyder (AR-02), John Boozman (AR-03), and Mike Ross (AR-04). The funds will be used for emergency repairs needed to restore essential traffic routes, minimize the extent of damage, protect remaining facilities, and make permanent repairs necessary to restore the highways to their pre-disaster condition. The following counties are included: Benton, Clay, Conway, Craighead, Crawford, Crittenden, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Johnson, Logan, Madison, Marion, Nevada, Newton, Perry, Pope, Randolph, Saline, Scott, Searcy, Sebastian, St. Francis, Stone, Van Buren, and Washington. -30- |
