Lincoln to Visit KIPP Delta School in Helena-West Helena Monday

Washington – U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln will travel to Helena-West Helena Monday, October 27, to visit the KIPP Delta College Preparatory School.

 

Lincoln will visit the school’s new gymnasium construction site to raise awareness for final donations to complete the building.  Three-hundred thousand dollars are needed to complete the $3 million project.  A November 21 event at the Governor’s Mansion is also planned to promote the new gymnasium.

 

Earlier this week, KIPP Delta was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2008 No Child Left Behind—Blue Ribbon SchoolThe No Child Left Behind—Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools that are either academically superior or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement to high levels. KIPP Delta was one of 15 charter schools from across the nation chosen for the honor.
