The Federal Depository Library Council Meeting will be held at the Westin Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City, MO. The meeting will begin Monday, March 31 with registration at 8:00 AM and the New Attendees/New Documents Librarian session from 8:30 – 10:00 AM. The council meeting will begin at 10:30 AM with the GPO Update Session including comments by the Public Printer of the United States, Robert C. Tapella and Acting Superintendent of Documents, Ric Davis. An additional educational track will be run in conjunction to the council sessions to provide the opportunity for peer sessions on topics of interest to the depository community. The meeting will wrap up Wednesday, April 2 with the Council Recommendations session at 3:30 – 5:00 PM

The Westin Crown Center Hotel is located at 1 East Pershing Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64108. It’s situated in Hallmark's Crown Center, and offers easy access to 85 acres of shops, restaurants, and theatres. You will be delighted to find the hotel is also close to attractions such as the Liberty Memorial, Union Station, Bartle Hall Convention Center, museums, and professional sports.

Be sure to mention the Federal Depository Library Council Meeting or GPO to receive the meeting rate.

Reservations made after March 07, 2008 will be subject to availability and the rate may vary. The Government rate will be honored Friday March 28 through Saturday, April 5, 2008. MCI is located 22 miles north of the Westin Center, approximately 25-30 minutes away. The airport is divided into 3 terminals with curb-side drop off and pick up outside of gates.

Driving Directions From the Airport

Take interstate 29-south to 169-south, continue on 169-south across the Missouri river towards Broadway Boulevard (169-south turns into Broadway). Follow Broadway to Pershing Road (equivalent to 24th Street). Make a left turn at the stop light. Continue past the stop light onto Main Street. Take first right into the front drive of the Westin Center.

Taxi Service

Phones for taxi service are located both inside and outside the terminal at each bag claim area and at other strategic locations outside the terminal exits. Make sure that you give the dispatcher your exact location.

Fares may be pro-rated (shared) when the originating passenger requests it and all other passengers agree. If no cabs are available, please contact any airport police officer or dial 5215 on any white courtesy phone.

Rates are $2.50 plus $2.00 per mile. Rates may vary due to traffic delays and waiting time.

KCI Airport to Your Hotel - Downtown, Crown Center and Plaza Hotels

KCI Shuttle’s Service to Downtown will serve various Downtown locations and transport you in comfort to & from KCI.

Downtown Hotels - $17.00 one-way or $29.00 round trip
Shuttles depart every 30 minutes between 5:35 am - 12:05 am from the following locations.

• Terminal A – Gates 1, 15, 30
• Terminal B – Gates 31, 50, 60
• Terminal C – Gates 61, 72, 80

When your flight arrives at KCI, walk up to one of the KCI Shuttle ticket counters. These counters are conveniently located adjacent to most airline baggage claim areas.

At the KCI Shuttle ticket counter, please let the Customer Service Representative know which hotel you are traveling to. They will arrange for your driver and will direct you to the correct passenger-loading zone. When your assigned shuttle arrives, please re-confirm with the driver what hotel you need to be transported to.

The Westin Crown Center hotel has service every 30 minutes from approximately 4:30 am to 6:30 pm. No reservations are needed prior to 6:00 pm. After 6 pm, reservations are required from these hotels.
