1/18/07: Dodd, Lieberman Announce Federal Grants for Three CT Fire Departments

Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) announced today that fire departments in North Grosvenordale, Beacon Falls and Westport will receive a total of $473,881 in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  The funding will be used for operations and safety.  

“The fire departments in North Grosvenordale, Beacon Falls and Westport are critically important to the safety and security of these towns,” said Dodd.  “Firefighters in these departments work hard to protect their fellow citizens from danger, and we should honor their work by providing the necessary funding and support so that they may continue to serve their communities.”


12/08/06: Dodd, Lieberman Announce Federal Grant for South Windham Fire Department

WASHINGTON – Senators Chris Dodd, D-Conn., and Joe Lieberman, D-Conn. announced today that the South Windham Fire Company will receive $68,950 in grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for operations and safety programs.

“South Windham is fortunate to have such a dedicated fire department to prevent fires from occurring and to protect the citizens of this small town from danger,” said Dodd.  “These individuals put their lives on the line for their communities, and it is of the utmost importance that they have the tools and funding necessary to perform these noble and important jobs.”

11/30/06: Dodd, Lieberman Announce Grants for Two CT Fire Departments

WASHINGTON – Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (D-CT) announced today that the Canterbury and Killingworth Volunteer Fire Companies will receive $106,799 in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  The funding will be used for operations and safety.  

“The volunteer fire departments in Canterbury and Killingworth are crucial elements of these small towns,” said Dodd.  “Volunteers in these departments work to protect their communities from fire and other dangers, and we should provide them the resources necessary to continue their honorable and critical work.”

11/15/06: Dodd, Lieberman Announce Three CT Fire Departments To Receive Operations, Safety Grants

WASHINGTON – The Old Mystic, Poquetanuck and Ashford Fire Departments will receive $252,540 in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (D-CT) announced today. The funding will be used for operations and safety.  

“Firefighters work tirelessly to keep us safe, and they deserve the funding necessary to protect themselves in this honorable yet dangerous line of work,” said Dodd. “These grants will help provide the proper vehicles, equipment and renovations our firefighters and firehouses need to do their jobs safely and effectively.”

7/21/06: Dodd, Lieberman Secure More Than $18 Million for State Transportation, Urban Development Projects

Washington – Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (D-CT) successfully secured more than $18 million for Connecticut's transportation and urban development needs, they announced today.  These resources, which were included in the Senate's Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill, will go towards initiatives across the state aimed at reducing traffic congestion, promoting alternative modes of transportation, increasing transportation safety, increasing homeownership, fighting urban blight, and supporting youth development. The bill was approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee earlier this week.

6/26/06: Senators Dodd, Lieberman Applaud Committee Passage of Agriculture Appropriations Bill

WASHINGTON - The Senate Appropriations Committee approved a measure that, thanks in part to the work of Senators Chris Dodd and Joe Lieberman, would provide funds for agricultural and economic initiatives across Connecticut. Dodd and Lieberman worked with their Appropriations Committee colleagues to ensure that funds for a number of Connecticut projects are included in the fiscal year 2007 Department of Agriculture Appropriations Bill. The legislation will now be considered by the full Senate.


6/22/06: Sens. Dodd, Lieberman Support Quinebaug-Shetucket Heritage Designation Extension

WASHINGTON – The Quinebaug-Shetucket Rivers Valley, spanning more than 695,000 acres in both Connecticut and Massachusetts and including 35 towns in both states, will continue to be designated a Heritage Corridor and receive funding through 2015, under a bill authored by Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (D-CT).  Authorization for funding of the Heritage Corridor is set to expire in 2009, and today both Senators submitted testimony supporting the continued designation and funding of this unique region of the state.
