May 10, 2007 The Eastern Connecticut State University and Waterbury Fire Departments will receive more than $89,000 in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (D-CT) announced today. The funding will be used for fire prevention.
“We count on firefighters to keep our families, friends, and communities safe,” said Dodd. “They are willing to risk their lives on a daily basis to protect us, and it is only right that we provide them with adequate funding to acquire the training and equipment necessary for them to do their jobs safely and effectively.”
