Ordering GAO Publications

Starting October 1, 2008, GAO will charge for all of its publications.

Why? All publicly available GAO publications are free of charge on the Internet, printing costs are increasing, and printing demand is decreasing. GAO is charging for its publications to cover the costs of printing, shipping, and handling.

How Much? The price for each publication depends on:
    • the number of pages
    • the number of color pages
    • whether the publication is printed in color or black and white
    • GAO’s actual cost of production and distribution, including shipping and handling
