November 18, 2008 Nevada Senator Harry Reid was re-elected as Senate Majority Leader this week by his colleagues in the Democratic caucus. As Majority Leader, Senator Reid will continue to set the legislative agenda for the Senate while working to chart a new course for our country. This allows Reid to do things for Nevada that no one else can. During this session of Congress, Reid has utilized his position to stop Yucca Mountain, bring hundreds of millions of dollars to Nevada military and transportation projects, and position the Silver State to be the world leader in renewable energy. “I am honored to be re-elected as the Senate Majority Leader,” Reid said. “It is a privilege that allows me to provide solutions to the challenges facing Nevada and the country. I thank my fellow Democratic Senators for again entrusting me with this position. This year has been particularly challenging for all Americans, and with a narrow majority, passing timely legislation has at times been difficult. But I look forward to again leading my colleagues into the next session with a promise of unity and bipartisanship to deliver the results that we as a country need.” |
