WASHINGTON, DC – United States Senator John Sununu (R-NH) today (9/24) issued the following statement regarding President Bush’s address to the nation on the economy:

America is facing the greatest financial crisis in a generation.  Any Congressional action should be designed to stabilize the markets for home loans, college loans, and access to credit for consumers and businesses in New Hampshire and across the country.  I believe that a strong, bipartisan response can be crafted, and will work to ensure that it places taxpayers’ interests first.”

Earlier today (9/24) Sununu hosted a conference call with New Hampshire reporters following a Joint Economic Committee (JEC) hearing where Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke testified on the state of the economy. Sununu, a member of the JEC, and also a Member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued a statement which can be obtained on his official Senate web site at www.sununu.senate.gov.
