Washington — Senator Evan Bayh today announced that he will host his Job Fair, Job Training and Small Business Summit at the C.K. Newsome Center in Evansville on Oct. 14 to help connect job seekers with local businesses in this challenging economic environment.
Bayh, a member of the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship, encourages Hoosiers to take advantage of the myriad resources that will be made available to help workers. Last year, more than 5,000 job opportunities were available at Bayh-sponsored summits across the state.
Many area companies looking to hire will be at the event, and job training and employment assistance services will be provided to job seekers. Also at the summit, local entrepreneurs can consult with experts to help them seek capital to effectively grow their small businesses.
“In these difficult economic times, it’s absolutely essential that Hoosiers are fully informed about the job opportunities and federal resources that are available to them,” Senator Bayh said. “This fair will have a wealth of resources to help Hoosiers find and retain good-paying jobs. It will be especially useful for those who own or work at one of Indiana’s small businesses, which are the lifeblood of our state’s economy.”
More than 20 local businesses are expected to attend with an estimated 130 job opportunities available. The Evansville Job Fair, Job Training and Small Business Summit is co-sponsored by Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel, the City of Evansville and WorkOne Southwest.
