RICHMOND, VA - Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) congratulated and welcomed to Congress the newest member of Virginia’s delegation, Rob Wittman, after his victory today in the 1^st District’s special election. 

“I congratulate Congressman-elect Rob Wittman on his victory and look forward to welcoming him into the 110^th Congress as a member of the Virginia delegation.  Rob brings with him a proven track record of leadership by serving the Commonwealth for over 20 years.” 

“Rob has an intimate understanding of Virginia’s 1^st District.  His depth of experience in state and local government will make him a strong advocate for our military, bay preservation and eliminating wasteful government spending.”   

Tuesday’s special election was held to replace the late Jo Ann Davis, a dear friend to the Commonwealth of Virginia who passed away just two months ago. 

“Congresswoman Davis was a special person and a tremendous leader for the 1^st District. I know that Rob will carry on the tradition of leadership that would make Jo Ann proud.”
