Cantor Statement on Democrats’ 9/11 Bill
Turning Homeland Security Over to the UN: The Wrong Idea

WASHINGTON, DC - Chief Deputy Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), issued the following statement today about H.R. 1, The Implementing the 9/11 Commission Recommendations Act of 2007:

“This bill includes provisions that are dangerous to America.

“This bill will give away America’s ability to prevent our enemies from gaining weapons of mass destruction and give it to the historically ineffective United Nations. America, and not the United Nations, has been instrumental in halting the illegal international transfer of banned weapons and nuclear technology between rogue states, such as Iran and Syria.

“Giving the United Nations our authority to prevent rogue governments from building weapons of mass destruction is a mistake. America and allied nations have been effective at keeping weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of the terrorists and rogue regimes.”
