Broad Coalition Urges a NO VOTE on H.R. 1338

Dear Colleague:

Later today, the House will vote on H.R. 1338, the so-called Paycheck Fairness Act. Although I am a strong supporter of equal pay for equal work, I have no choice but to oppose H.R. 1338.  The bill offers little to benefit working women and families, but it will wreak havoc on workers and employers by expanding liability and encouraging costly lawsuits.  A broad and growing coalition has lined up in opposition to H.R. 1338.  I urge you to read the letter here, in which the following organizations urge all Members of the House to vote no on H.R. 1338.

American Hotel and Lodging Association
American Bakers Association
Associated Builders and Contractors
College and University Professional Association for Human Resources
Environmental Industry Associations
Food Marketing Institute
HR Policy Association
Independent Electrical Contractors
International Foodservice Distributors Association
International Franchise Association
International Public Management Association for Human Resources
National Association of Convenience Stores
National Association of Manufacturers
National Federation of Independent Business
National Public Employer Labor Relations Association
National Restaurant Association
National Retail Federation
National Roofing Contractors Association
Printing Industries of America
Retail Industry Leaders Association
Society for Human Resource Management
Textile Rental Services Association of America
U.S. Chamber of Commerce

I strongly urge you to join me in opposing H.R. 1338.  If you have any questions, please contact the Education and Labor Committee Republican staff at x5-7101.

Sincerely,

/s/
