Senator Carper stopped by Rehoboth Beach Elementary School on September 22, 2008. He ate lunch with the students and participated in an assembly to announce the Accelerated Reader Program to the students.

Senator Carper was in Laurel to help USDA announce a grant that will be used to replace the roof on the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club and funding for the Town of Laurel's new multi-purpose command vehicle that will be utilized by the police at major crime scenes and at community events.

During the annual MILCON update, Senator Carper asked Major General Frank Vavala, DAFB Commander Col. Steven Harrison, and Colonel Randal Bright, Commander 512th AW to stand and be recognized and thanked them for all the work they do for our military here in Delaware.

Senator Carper joined with Congressman Castle and the USDA to present the City of Milton a loan in the amount of $5.6 million for water system improvements. Service to customers will not be interrupted.
