Research Project:
EVALUATION OF THE VALUE OF FIELD-SCALE RISK ASSESSMENT TOOLS FOR CONSULTANTS AND PRODUCERS
Location: Agricultural Land and Watershed Management Research
Project Number: 3625-21610-001-36
Project Type:
Specific Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Sep 22, 2006
End Date: Sep 30, 2007
Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research is to develop a better understanding of the value of risk assessment tools for field scale risk assessment, applicability of remote sensing to quantify patterns of stress within fields, and evaluate the value of crop risk assessment tools in corn/soybean production systems to determine where risk could be reduced.
Approach:
A crop damage assessment tool has been developed using results collected from several experiments in Iowa and Missouri over that past four years. An evaluation of this tool is critical to potential application by producers and consultants in assessing risk. The approach will be to evaluate this crop damage and risk assessment tool to determine where it can be enhanced.
