Soil physics, environmental engineering, and biogeochemistry, with specific emphasis on the transport and transformation of reactive nitrogen species and trace gases in agricultural and forest soils; Carbon flux and storage in agricultural systems; soil remediation technologies.

Current Research Interests
Greenhouse gas emissions as influenced by agricultural management practices; mechanisms and kinetics of N trace gases in agricultural and forest soils; climate change influences on soil N and C cycling.
