EPA’s National Homeland Security Research Center’s "Standardized Analytical Methods for Environmental Restoration following Homeland Security Events" (SAM) identifies analytical methods to be used by laboratories tasked with performing analyses of environmental samples following a homeland security incident.

The information on this Web site includes selected methods for use by multiple laboratories when measuring contaminants associated with a terrorist attack to evaluate the nature and extent of contamination and assess decontamination efficacy.

EPA will continue to update the SAM information to ensure that multiple laboratories perform consistent analyses and obtain comparable results.
