Research Project:
UNDERSTANDING CORN ROOTWORM-HOST INTERACTIONS TOWARD APPLIED AND BASIC GOALS
Location: Vegetable Crops Research Unit
Project Number: 3622-21220-005-08
Project Type:
Specific Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Jul 17, 2007
End Date: May 31, 2009
Objective:
Work toward an understanding of the role that behavior may or may not play in the development of rootworm resistance to Cry3Bb1-expressing corn and an understanding of corn rootworm-host interactions in general.
Approach:
Conduct at Cooperator facilities and elsewhere as appropriate, research directed toward a better understanding of the role of feeding behavior in the development of Cry3Bb1-resistant colonies of the western corn rootworm and rootworm host-interactions, in general. A number of different types of behavioral bioassays and chemical analyses will be conducted by MWA Res. Assoc. Elisa Bernklau in the laboratory of Cooperator Lou Bjostad at Colorado State University.
