Limnology

Station-average Nutrient Maps

This summary will present an overview of results for the annual Great Lakes limnology program beginning with 1990 (in 1994 and 1995 only Lake Michigan was sampled). The limnology program provides information on key environmental factors such as nutrients that influence the food chain and fish of the Great Lakes. The sampling strategy is to collect water samples at specific water depths from a limited number of stations in each lake twice (Spring and Summer) every year.  The Spring results are presented here as maps showing the average concentration at each station as represented by circles of proportionate size.

Results by year:
Spring 1990
Spring 1991
Spring 1992
Spring 1993
Spring 1996
Spring 1997
Spring 1998
Spring 1999
Results by nutrient:
Spring total Phosphorus
Spring Silica
