Research Project: SURFACE COLLOIDAL CHEMISTRY RELATED TO SORPTION OF AMMONIUM, ATRAZINE AND GLYPHOSATE

Location: National Soil Erosion Research Lab

Project Number: 3602-12220-009-02
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jun 06, 2006
End Date: Dec 31, 2007

Objective:
Study the molecular mechanisms of anhydrous ammonia and related nitrogen compounds, atrazine and glyphosate in soils.

Approach:
Using insitu spectroscopic and structral analysis methods to examine the interaction of N-compounds, atrazine and glyphosate with soil and soil constituents. We will examine the inter-relationships between three cations and their influence on colloidal water retention, retention of N-compounds, and the interaction of atrazine and glyphosate.
