Organic Geochemistry Research Laboratory
Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS)
A benchtop triple stage quadrupole mass spectrometry system (LC/MS/MS)
is used for research and development of new methods. This instrument includes the following:
- Z-Spray atmospheric pressure ionization LC/MS interface
- Precision engineered analizer of mass range 2-2000 amu
- Positive and negative ionization capability
- Coaxial probe for low flow rate electospray operation
- MassLynx instrument control and data acquisition interface
A new highly sensitive high performance bench top triple quadrupole Atmostpheric Pressure Ionization (API) Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry system (LC/MS/MS) was added to the laboratory in 2006.
This instrument includes the following:
- TURBO V (TM) ion source which contributes to low sensitivity and eliminates cross-contamination
- PhotoSpray(TM) ion source which expands the range of compounds that can be analyzed
- LINAC (TM) collision call which ensures for the maximum ion transfer in MS/MS mode
- Analyst (TM) software which includes the InteliiQuan integration system
LC/MS/MS analyses performed by the Organic Geochemistry Research Laboratory are as follows:
- Antibotics and Degradation Products (LCAN)
- Antibiotic soils and sediments (LCAS)
- Glyphosate, AMPA, and Glufosinate Online (LCGY)
- Glyphosate soils and sediments (LCGS)
