Animal agriculture plays an essential role in Minnesota's economy. It is integral to sustainable agriculture and sustainable rural areas. Unfortunately, animal manure can also negatively impact air and water quality if not handled properly. Our research, educational programs and materials focus on economically feasible and environmentally-sound manure handling systems that also meet Federal, state, and local air and water quality protection regulations.
