The EPA Region 3 Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Program is specifically focusing on the reduction of the paper and food waste streams by identifying traditional and innovative ways to increase recycling/reuse, divert waste from landfills, and to develop recycling/reuse markets. Food and paper waste represent the largest reducible components of the municipal solid waste stream. EPA is partnering with its counterparts at the state, county and local levels and has established a Team to work on this effort.
