Description:

Objective:

This project is for administrative support, including program leadership, advisory board activities, meetings, administrative travel, etc.

Progress Summary:

Administrative efforts have gone quite well. Inasmuch as this is the first year of a multi-year program, adequate time and resources remain to make any adjustments that are warranted to complete projects. As might be expected with a project of such a large scope and with so many researchers and board members involved, it has been extremely difficult setting meeting times acceptable to all concerned. Nonetheless, principal investigators (PIs) Gore and D’Elia meet regularly and communicate frequently with project PIs, often on an individual basis. With regards to the outreach function, the Center for Science and Policy Applications for Coastal Environments (C-SPACE) is a proud co-sponsor of the Community, Science, and Environmental Policy Brown Bag Discussion, referred to for short as the “Brown Bag.” (See http://www.stpt.usf.edu/brownbag/.exit EPA ) This 1.25 hour public forum is held the second Friday of the month, now in a permanent home, the Normille Conference Room at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) building on the University of South Florida (USF) at St. Petersburg campus. A wide range of speakers touch on a variety of environmental science and policy issues, with ample opportunity for open and public discussion being provided. This session is attended by 40-100 people from USF, its partner institutions, and the public. In addition, the C-SPACE Program has hosted a Web site since its inception. This site can be found at http://www.stpt.usf.edu/cspace/cspace.asp exit EPA and is maintained by Dr. Bob Wang.
