Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC) Sustainable Water Infrastructure DVD and Case Studies
EPA's Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC) has developed a DVD that highlights how local governments are addressing aging sewer and water systems to meet current and future challenges facing our communities. The LGAC is an officially chartered federal advisory that provides advice and recommendations to assist the EPA in developing a stronger partnership with local governments.

EPA Recognizes Companies, Individuals for Saving Water
EPA announced the winners of a new awards program aimed at recognizing outstanding leadership and innovation in water efficiency. Winners of the first Water Efficiency Leader (WEL) Awards were chosen by a panel of national water experts and based on three criteria: leadership, innovation, and water saved.

Bridging the Gap - Video for Public Officials and Water Managers Exit EPA Disclaimer
Bridging the Gap is a ground-breaking on-line video designed to help elected officials and water and wastewater managers make smart choices as they address water and wastewater infrastructure issues.  The video outlines the key steps to developing an asset management plan for both novice and experienced professionals. The hosting website provides an on-line learning experience with an extensive array of reference materials to support the central concepts and real-world examples of emerging best practices and innovations in water asset management. Developed with EPA grant funds, this innovative video and website is a collaborative undertaking with Penn State’s College of Engineering, World Campus, and its Public Broadcasting units.

USDA and EPA Sign Water Quality Credit Trading Agreement
Benjamin Grumbles, Assistant Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Water and USDA Natural Resources and Environment Under Secretary Mark Rey signed a partnership agreement to establish and promote water quality credit trading markets through cooperative conservation. The agreement features a pilot project within the Chesapeake Bay basin to showcase the effectiveness of environmental markets.

Paying for Sustainable Water Infrastructure BannerThis conference will bring together stakeholders from all levels of government and the private sector to explore creative methods to pay for sustainable water infrastructure today and into the future. It is the first of its kind to address the challenge of integrating the many diverse tools and strategies to pay for sustainable water infrastructure. Integration begins with the two fundamental dimensions of “paying for sustainable water infrastructure”.

Statement of Intent on Utility Management
EPA and six leading water and wastewater utility associations announced a major collaborative effort to ensure the long term viability of our nation's water systems. The statement of intent formalizes the collaborative effort to promote effective utility management. The joint effort will focus on improved water and wastewater utility performance through education, management tools and performance measures.
