Through the GreenChill Partnership, the supermarket industry and other stakeholders work to reduce the negative environmental impacts of commercial refrigeration systems.

Why is it important to reduce emissions of refrigerants?

Ozone-depleting refrigerants are also potent greenhouse gases (GHGs), which contribute to climate change when released into the atmosphere.
Many supermarket refrigeration systems contain refrigerants that deplete the ozone layer.
Many older refrigeration systems are also energy inefficient, resulting in increased costs, as well as increased energy demand (further increasing GHG emissions).
