SIXTY YEAR OLD WAYNESBORO MAN SENTENCED TO 41 MONTHS OF IMPRISONMENT FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
United States Attorney John L. Brownlee announced today that Steven Louis Vaughan, age 60, of Waynesboro, Virginia, was sentenced in United States District Court in Harrisonburg, Virginia, by the Honorable District Judge Samuel G. Wilson, to a prison sentence of 41 months.
Vaughan had been charged by Indictment with receipt and possession of child pornography. According to evidence presented at Vaughan’s guilty plea hearing in January of this year, the investigation of this case began when Vaughan ordered child pornography movies from an undercover company that had been set up by the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS). Child pornography movies were delivered to the defendant’s home during a controlled delivery after which point a search warrant was executed at the home. Hundreds of child pornography images were found in the temporary internet cache of Vaughan’s computer.
In addition to the prison sentence, Vaughan was ordered to serve a 10-year term of supervised release when he completes his prison sentence and he will be required to register as a sexual offender.
The investigation of the case was conducted by USPIS. Assistant United States Attorney Nancy S. Healey prosecuted the case. For further information, please contact AUSA Healey, at (434) 293-4283.
