SEVEN MEMBERS OF CRACK COCAINE DISTRIBUTION RING INDICTED

Acting United States Attorney Julia C. Dudley and Wythe County Sheriff Doug King and announced today that seven members of an organization that allegedly distributed crack cocaine in Wythe County, Virginia, have been indicted by a federal Grand Jury sitting in Abingdon, Virginia.

The indicted include:

David Tony Moore, age 43, of Detroit, Michigan
Andrae Rodregas Davis, age 28, of Wytheville, Virginia
Reginald Scoot Anderson, age 37, of Wytheville, Virginia
Vincent Pernell Kyle, age 39, of Wytheville, Virginia
Landon Demitrus Taylor, age 27, of Wytheville, Virginia
Marcus Lamonte Davis, age 35, of Wytheville, Virginia and
Christopher Lance Taylor, age 26, of Wytheville, Virginia.

“These men were responsible for bringing large amounts of crack cocaine into our area,” Acting United States Attorney Julia C. Dudley said today. “I am grateful for the tireless efforts of all the men and women who investigated this case and were able to bring charges against these defendants.”

“I think this is a fine example of inter-departmental co-operation, ensuring that a crack distribution ring has been dismantled,” Wythe County Sheriff Doug King said today. “All of the local, state and federal agents worked well together, they worked many long hours and this is the fruition of their efforts.”

The charges:

All seven men were charged with one count of conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute and distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine. In addition, the following defendants were charged with additional offenses:

Moore was charged with one count of possessing with the intent to distribute 5 grams or more of crack cocaine.

Andrae Davis was charged with two counts of possessing with the intent to distribute 5 grams or more of crack cocaine, four counts of possessing with the intent to distribute and distributing crack cocaine and one count of using a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Anderson was charged with four counts of distributing crack cocaine.

Kyle was charged with two counts of possessing with the intent to distribute and distributing 5 grams or more of crack cocaine and one count of possessing with the intent to distribute and distributing crack cocaine.

Six of the seven men charged in this indictment have been taken into custody. Reginald Anderson, Vincent Kyle, Landon Taylor and Marcus Davis were arrested following the return of the charges levied against them. Andrae Davis and Christopher Taylor are currently in state custody in relation to state charges. David Moore remains the only defendant named in the indictment yet to be apprehended.

If convicted, the maximum penalty faced by each defendant is life imprisonment and a fine ranging from $4,000,000 to $16,000,000.

The investigation of the case was conducted by the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office, Wytheville Police Department, Virginia State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Randy Ramseyer is prosecuting the case for the United States.

A Grand Jury indictment is only a charge and not evidence of guilt. Each defendant is entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the government to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
