GALAX WOMAN SENTENCED TO 87 MONTHS FOR CONSPIRING TO DISTRIBUTE METHAMPHETAMINE

Acting United States Attorney Julia C. Dudley announced today that Irene Rodriguez Uribe, age 43, of Galax, Virginia, was sentenced in the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia in Harrisonburg for participating in a conspiracy that distributed more than 500 grams of methamphetamine throughout the Western District, and elsewhere.

“The devastation methamphetamine addiction causes to those addicted to the drug is alarming,” Acting United States Attorney Julia C. Dudley said today. “The United States Attorney’s Office places an emphasis on taking dealers of methamphetamine, and all illegal drugs, off our streets.”

Today in District Court, Rodriguez Uribe was sentenced to 87 months of Federal incarceration to be followed by a period of supervised release of 3 years thereafter. In addition, she was ordered to pay a special assessment of $100.

Rodriguez Uribe was indicted in January of 2008 along with nine co-defendants. All have been charged with conspiring to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine, and other drug charges. On June 27, 2008 the defendant pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.

Other members of the conspiracy that have been charged in the indictment are: Antonio Guerrero, Spencer Jay Stoneberger, Brandy Lynn Stoneberger, Jeffrey Alan Kline, Andrew Wayne Knight, Kristin Ray Campbell, Kenneth Lee Good Jr., Jason Lee Hillards and David Anthony Hillards.

The investigation of the case was conducted by bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Northwest Task Force and the Page County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jeb Terrien is prosecuting the case for the United States.
