Background

The CMC Heartland Lite Yard site (plant site) is located on 5 acres at the northwest corner of the intersection of Hiawatha Ave and 28th St. Several companies produced pesticides at the plant from 1938 to 1968. When arsenic was discovered at the plant site, health agencies suspected that the wind might have blown contaminated dust into nearby neighborhoods. Yards were sampled north and west of the plant site. (more...)

Information for Property Owners

In October 2008 EPA sent out letters and access agreements to property owners whose yards are included in the next, and final cleanup phase. If you received this letter and access agreement and have not returned the signed consent agreement, EPA is asking that you send it in as soon as possible. Access agreements should be sent to Tim Prendiville address provided below and on the Consent Form (PDF) (1pg, 88K)).
