Bob Cushman
Dr. Cushman's primary research is characterizing reproductive phenotypes that could act as indicator traits for fertility and stayability in cattle. Dr. Cushman collects phenotypic information from both cows and bulls in many of the cattle populations at USMARC including but not limited to the Production Efficiency population and the Germplasm Evaluation population. Biological samples (serum, tissue biopsies, semen, etc.) are also collected and analyzed to identify gene products associated with these traits. The goal of this portion of the research is to identify gene products that could serve as biochemical markers of fertility.
