At any time a school may experience an emergency that could pose a threat to the health and safety of students and staff. There is a wealth of information related to emergency preparedness, building or retrofitting schools to withstand natural disasters and terrorism, and sheltering community members during emergencies. In addition, model safe school plans are available to help identify hazards, evaluate safety planning and assist site administrators in preparing for emergencies.
