Research Project: THE WIND EROSION PREDICTION SYSTEM (WEPS) USER DOCUMENTATION, TUTORIALS, AND TRAINING MATERIALS

Location: Wind Erosion Research Unit

Project Number: 5430-11120-008-01
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 29, 2004
End Date: Sep 28, 2009

Objective:
Complete the WEPS 1.0 user documentation suite, which consists of; (a) WEPS 1.0 user's Guide; (b) WEPS 1.0 tutorials; (c) DVD training session on fundamental wind erosion processes; (d) online, context-sensitive help; and (e) presentation materials to assist in training WEPS 1.0 users.

Approach:
Both parties are interested in developing documentation for WEPS 1.0 that will not only assist in training users to correctly apply the WEPS model, but also provide the WEPS user with basic information on the fundamental physical processes of wind erosion as well as the underlying principles and strategies for its control. This information will assist land managers, conservation partners, NRCS, and military personnel in controlling wind erosion on agricultural crop lands, disturbed lands and natural ecosystems. Both parties already have ongoing research efforts in wind erosion; and, the cooperative work to be conducted under this SCA will be collaboratively planned and conducted.
