Science Seminars at the National Wetlands Research Center
During August, the USGS National Wetlands Research Center sponsored three speakers as part of the Center's seminar series. On August 3rd, Dr. David Cowen, Chairman of the University of South Carolina's Department of Geography, spoke on the current status and future developments in geographic information systems (GIS). On August 7th, Dr. Robert Thomas, Director of the Center for Environmental Communications at Loyola University, presented a seminar, "Environmental Communication: Good Science, Proper Motives, Intelligent Listening, Evaluating Context, Truth, and a Modicum of Trust." The third seminar was held August 20th with Dr. Laura Giese speaking on carbon pods and fluxes as indicators of riparian restoration.
