Hike Oak Hammock
Join Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge Volunteers, Ned Steel and Jim Pedersen for a 3/4 mile hike through a hardwood hammock on Wednesday, October 29 at 9 am.
Enjoy the fall weather while learning about the many plants and animals that live in this habitat. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water and insect repellant. Loaner binoculars are available. Call 321-861-5601 to make reservations and for information.

Free November Beginning Bird Watching Tours
Take a driving tour of Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with a trained U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service volunteer to learn how to identify the many birds that frequent the refuge. There is one tour daily that leaves at 9 am from the Refuge Visitor Center and last for approximately three to four hours. Suggested items to bring include binoculars, camera, field guides, bug repellant, water and a snack. Loaner binoculars are available.

Saturdays: 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/22, 11/29
Sundays: 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30

Manatee Watch
Join a Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge Volunteer for a presentation on the endangered manatee. Learn fascinating manatee facts through a power point presentation and hands on manatee artifacts. A field trip to view wild manatees at the Manatee Observation Deck will follow. The program is scheduled for Saturday, November 22 at 1 pm.
