1/ The 2002 Enacted includes Counterterrorism Supplemental resources.
2/ The appropriation level is reflected as zero if there is no authorization.
3/ Excludes Federal Retiree cost.
4/ Reflects authorization of program activities that do not contain funding authorization.* P.L. 107-77, Sec. 102 permanently extended the DOJ Appropriations Authorization Act of 1980. Previously, these authorizations had been extended on a year-to-year basis through appropriations acts. Authorized levels shown are those contained in the 1980 Act.
Sec. 102 states "Hereafter, authorities contained in the Department of Justice Appropriation Authorization Act, Fiscal Year 1980 (Public Law 96-132; 93 Stat. 1040 (1979)), as amended, shall remain in effect until the effective date of a subsequent Department of Justice Appropriation Authorization Act." 1/ The FY 2001 enacted level includes a Government-wide rescission of .22%.
NOTE: This chart references the authorization of appropriations, not the Acts authorizing operation of specific programs. For example, OIG is authorized in the Inspector General Act of 1978, but the Act does not provide appropriation levels.
