The following honors are given by ACNM each year. There are many more scholarships, awards, and opportunities available. For these please watch for information from the A.C.N.M. Foundation, and consult the ACNM calendar.
Fellowship in the American College of Nurse-Midwives Fellowship in the American College of Nurse-Midwives (FACNM) is an honor bestowed upon those midwives whose demonstrated leadership, clinical excellence, outstanding scholarship, and professional achievement have merited special recognition both within and outside of the midwifery profession.
Regional Award for Excellence The Regional Award for Excellence honors one CNM or CM from each region during the regional meetings at the ACNM Annual Meeting.
Hattie Hemschemeyer Award The Hattie Hemschemeyer Award honors an exceptional CNM/CM who is an ACNM member, has been certified for at least ten years, and has provided either continuous outstanding contributions or distinguished service to midwifery and/or MCH, or contributions of historical significance to the development and advancement of midwifery, ACNM, or MCH.
Kitty Ernst Award The Kitty Ernst Award honors an exceptional, relatively new CNM/CM who is an ACNM member, has been certified for less than ten years, and has demonstarted innovative, creative endeavors in midwifery and/or women's health clinical practice, education, administration, or research.
"With women, for a lifetime ®" Commendation This honor recognizes midwifery services that have provided innovative and compassionate midwifery care to families, expanded access to women's health care as provided by certified nurse-midwives and/or certified midwives, educated midwifery students, and put the heart of midwifery into practice. JNM/JMWH Best Paper of the Year Awards
This honor recognizes an aothor(s) for contributions to the Journal that enhance midwifery and women's health through publication. Articles published in JMWH for the year to the award(from Janaury to December) qualify for considerationby the Editorial board. The published article may address any aspect of clinical practice, policy, education, or research.
ACNM Best Book of the Year Awards This honor recognizes a CNM/CM author(s) for a contribution to the literature, as a published book, that is significant to the profession of midwifery. Selections are chosen from those books identified and received for review in JMWH or at the ACNM national office in the calendar year prior to the ACNM Annual Meeting.
