Research Plan

 THE RESEARCH PLAN:
The Delta Obesity Prevention Research Unit consists of three major phases:

The FIRST is a series of surveys to assess the nutrition and health needs of the Delta.
  • Key Informant Survey
  • FOODS Validation Study (1997)
  • FOODS 2000 - Nutrition Assessment Survey I (NAS I)
  • Focus Group Study
  • Community Assessment Survey
  • Food Frequency Development

 

   

In the SECOND phase, selected residents of the Delta region will be followed for several years to track changes in their nutrition and health.


  • Nutrition Assessment Survey (NAS II)

The THIRD phase is directed toward carrying out intervention programs to improve the nutrition and health of the men, women, and children of the Delta region.


  • Pilot Intervention in Summer Food Service Program Using Stages of Change
  • Obesity Prevention Program for After-School Care
  • Preschool Intervention to Increase Fruit and Vegetable Consumption
