Community Profile In 2007 the EPA named Alta a Green Power Community. With this distinction, Alta became the third municipality in Utah (along with Park City and Moab), and the tenth municipality in the nation to receive this distinction. Alta is purchasing more than nine percent of the community's electricity as wind power through the local utility wind power program. In addition, the Town of Alta government buildings are purchasing thirty percent wind power, which qualifies the Town as a member of EPA's Green Power Leadership Club.
