Boy Scouts of America Equal Access Act Rulemaking
The Boy Scouts of America Equal Access Act , part of the No Child Left Behind Act , addresses equal access to meet in public schools that receive federal funds from the Department. The law covers the Boy Scouts and other youth groups listed in Title 36 of the U.S. Code as a patriotic society. During FY 2004, OCR completed drafting a "Notice of Proposed Rulemaking", which was published in the Federal Register on Oct. 19, 2004, and provided for a 45-day public comment period. While OCR received no complaints alleging violations of the act during FY 2004, one of the five complaints submitted the previous year was resolved in FY 2004.
