SAGEMAP - Project Data

We have GIS data used in the following projects/publications available for download:
  • The Human Footprint in the West: A Large-scale Analysis of Anthropogenic Impacts
The human footprint map focuses on shrubland ecosystems and combines models of habitat use by synanthropic predators (“top-down” effects) and the risk of invasive plant presence (“bottom-up” effects) to estimate the total influence of human activities. The human footprint map is a composite of seven models that either explored how anthropogenic features influence wildlife populations via changes in habitat (road-induced dispersal of invasive plants, oil and gas developments, human induced fires, and anthropogenic habitat fragmentation) or predators densities (spatial distribution of domestic and synanthropic avian predators).

  • Teetering on the edge or too late? Conservation and research issues for the avifauna of sagebrush habitats
A review the threats facing birds in sagebrush habitats to emphasize the urgency for conservation and research actions, and synthesize existing information that forms the foundation for recommended research directions.

  • Current Distribution of Sagebrush and Associated Vegetation in the Columbia Basins
This regional landcover dataset was produced using decision tree classification and other techniques to model landcover. Multi-season satellite imagery (Landsat ETM+, 1999-2003) and digital elevation model (DEM) derived datasets (e.g. elevation, landform, aspect, etc.) were utilized to derive rule sets for the various landcover classes.

  • Range-wide Conservation Assessment of Greater Sage-grouse and Sagebrush Habitats
This is the first range-wide assessment of greater sage-grouse using the vast amount of population data collected over the past 60 years, habitat information spanning the last 100 years, and literature dating back 200 years.

  • Sagebrush Assessment Project
The Sagebrush Assessment Project conducted research on habitats for species of conservation concern in the sagebrush ecosystem. The Project’s focus was on landscape research in sagebrush-dominated ecoregions in the western United States.
