The purpose of the Inter-Agency Digital Working Group is to identify requirements and issues relating to digital imagery acquisition, guidelines, and policies common to Federal, state, and local government agencies and to work together to find solutions.

Based on discussions with these agencies and their contractors, it became apparent they share common digital imagery needs and requirements. The USGS compiled an initial list of agencies involved in digital imagery acquisition. Many of these agencies were also represented on the National Digital Orthophoto Program (NDOP) Steering Committee. As a result, members of the existing NDOP technical subcommittee, and other agencies known to have digital image acquisition requirements, were contacted.
